Chief Executive Officer / Director

Mamorena Matsoso

Dr. Mamorena boasts an impressive academic background, culminating in her Ph.D. from the Graduate School of Business at the University of
Cape Town. Holding a Master’s Degree in Cost and Management Accounting and aHigher Diploma in Higher Education and Training from the Cape Peninsula University of Technology, she also earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Cost and Management Accounting, a National Diploma in Cost and Management Accounting from Central University of Technology, and a Certificate in Business Administration from the Institute of Business Studies. Her commitment to education is reflected in her roles as a registered Assessor at FASSET and as a registered facilitator and moderator at ETDP SETA. Additionally, she is a proud member of the Chartered Institute for Business Accountants (CIBA) and holds the esteemed Business
Accountant (BA) designation.

With over fifteen years of lecturing experience in higher education, Mamorena has left an indelible mark as a dedicated educator. During her
tenure as a full-time Financial Accounting, Cost and Management Accounting, and Research Methodology lecturer at the Cape Peninsula University of Technology, she received two prestigious teaching excellence awards in 2014 and 2017. Her leadership extended beyond the classroom, where she actively contributed as a member of the higher degree committee, transformation committee, and School of
Accounting Sciences joint research committee. Mamorena’s leadership skills were also evident as she served as the subject coordinator for Research Methodology. Notably, she played a crucial role in an entrepreneurship skills development program under the auspices of BANKSETA, aimed at empowering small businesses in South Africa. Her mentorship role at the Raymond Ackerman Academy of Entrepreneurship development contributed significantly to the development the entrepreneurs.

Mamorena’s commitment to academic excellence extends to her prolific research contributions. She has authored research papers in peer-
reviewed journals focusing on Strategic Management and Supply Chain Management of small and medium enterprises (SMEs). Her research interests, currently centered around sustainable supply chain and SMEs, demonstrate her dedication to understanding the intricate dynamics of value chain development. Mamorena has presented her research findings at numerous local and international conferences, showcasing her work in countries such as the United Kingdom, Italy, Morocco, Tanzania, Namibia, and South Africa. Furthermore, she co-authored a chapter on Women and Small-Scale Entrepreneurship in a book titled “Introduction to Gender Studies in Eastern and Southern Africa: A Reader.

Beyond classroom teaching, Mamorena is actively involved in the supervision and external examination of postgraduate students at Honors, Masters, and Ph.D levels. Her contributions to academic development are crucial in shaping the next generation of scholars and
professionals. Beyond her teaching and research roles, Mamorena actively contributes to the academic community. As a reviewer (since 2021) at the Academy of Management (AOM) annual meeting, she assesses paper submissions in Supply Chain Management (SCM) and Entrepreneurship (ENT) divisions. Her dedication to academic integrity is further evident in her role as a reviewer at the bi-annual South African Association of Accounting Academics (SAAA) conference. In addition, Mamorena has served as an organizing committee member for various
international conferences, including the International Entrepreneurship Forum (IEF) in 2015 and the International Conference on Business and Finance (ICBF) in the same year. She also coordinated the International Conference on Business and Management Dynamics (ICBMD) from 2016 to 2018.

Throughout her extensive career in higher education, Dr. Mamorena has demonstrated a profound commitment to fostering knowledge and academic growth. Her teaching expertise spans various subjects and modules, showcasing her versatility and depth of knowledge. While serving as a full-time lecturer at the Cape Peninsula University of Technology (CPUT) from 2008 to 2018, Mamorena covered a spectrum of subjects including Financial Accounting, Cost and Management Accounting, and Research Methodology. Her dedication to excellence in teaching was recognized with two prestigious teaching excellence awards in 2014 (departmental) and 2017 (faculty). In her role as a part-time lecturer at the Management College of Southern Africa (MANCOSA) from 2012 to 2014, Mamorena imparted knowledge in Analytical Techniques 1 and Management Accounting for the B. Comm program. Later, from 2019 to 2020, she continued her contributions to MANCOSA, teaching Management Accounting, Business Administration, and Entrepreneurship. Expanding her reach, Mamorena took on the role of lecturer at the Raymond Ackerman Academy of Entrepreneurial Development, University of Cape Town, Graduate School of Business. Here, she shared her insights into Entrepreneurship and Business Strategy. In the earlier stages of her career, Mamorena served as a part time lecturer at the Central University of Technology. Her teaching portfolio included Financial Accounting and Accounting for Marketers.

Mamorena’s dedication to education is further evident in her role as a lecturer at theUCT, GSB MBA program, where she recently taught Operations Management. As an independent lecturer at IMM Graduate School, she delivered modules on Supply Chain Management, and Trade Finance and Payments in International Supply Chain. Her commitment to education also extends to her role as a facilitator under the flagship of CPUT and the auspices of BANKSETA, contributing to an entrepreneurship skills development program aimed at training and empowering small businesses in South Africa. Professional Engagements and Entrepreneurship: Demonstrating her versatility, Mamorena has not only excelled in academia but also ventured into the corporate world. Holding the positions of Chief Operating Officer and Chief Executive Officer at Hitchat Entertainment in 2021 and 2022, respectively, she showcased her prowess in executive leadership. Additionally, she serves as a director at Ubambano Women and Youth South African Entrepreneurship Forum (UWSEF), a non-profit organization dedicated to empowering and supporting women in small businesses in South Africa and the SADC region. As the founding director and CEO at Matsoso Management & Development Consulting (MMDC), Mamorena continues to contribute her expertise to the business and development sectors.

Zwelithini Matsoso

Zwelithini Matsoso is a dynamic and committed individual whose professional journey reflects a profound dedication to social justice, public policy, youth development and entrepreneurship. As the Founder and Executive Director of the Campaign for Social Justice, Matsoso has devoted 15 years to youth development practice, striving to advance social justice and equality across the African continent. Born in Butha Buthe, Lesotho, Matsoso’s passion for rural development is evident in his tireless efforts to defend constitutional and socio-economic rights, particularly focusing on young people and those residing in rural areas. Matsoso’s educational background is marked by diverse training, showcasing his commitment to acquiring a well-rounded skill set. His pursuits include Internal Auditing at the Cape Peninsula University of Technology, law studies at the University of South Africa, and participation in a Medical Trustee Programme from the Board of Healthcare Funders and the University of the Witwatersrand.

Additionally, he has received training in conflict management from the African Center for the Constructive Resolution of Disputes and Youth Work from the Center for Youth Development Services at the University of Minnesota. Matsoso’s dedication to Sexual and Reproductive Health Rights (SRHR) is evident through various training from USAID and John Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, complemented by certifications as a Youth Development practitioner by Youth Interventions Programmes Association USA. His expertise extends to project management and monitoring and evaluation, reflecting a comprehensive approach to his professional roles. Matsoso’s impact extends beyond the borders of Lesotho, as evidenced by his roles in international organizations. He served as the Country Coordinator for Lesotho at the International Youth Alliance for Family Planning (IYAFP), supporting programs on Adolescent, Youth, Sexual and Reproductive Health Rights (AYSRHR). His leadership at Global Hope Mobilization (GLOHOMO) as the Country Manager for a SADC and SDC Future Life Now funded program during the rapid COVID-19 response in Lesotho further demonstrates his ability to navigate complex challenges on a global scale. Additionally, Matsoso served as a Regional SRHR Research Fellow for Southern Africa at SECTION27+, incorporating the AIDS Law Project, based
in South Africa.


Before his engagements in the non-governmental sector, Matsoso made significant contributions to the United Nations Youth Advisory Panel hosted under the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA). His role as a Youth Development Advisor involved advising UN agencies on innovative and meaningful ways to engage young people in UN programming. His contributions extended tothe USAID Youth Advisory Group (Youth Power 2 Learn), where he served as Steering Committee Liaison. Matsoso also played a crucial role in the Lesotho National Commission for UNESCO Youth Desk, showcasing his commitment to educational and cultural initiatives. Matsoso’s commitment to youth development is further highlighted by his involvement in various committees under the National Youth Council in the Ministry of Gender, Youth, Sports, Arts,
Culture, and Social Development. As an Interim Youth Task Team member, he actively participated in discussions and initiatives focused on critical reforms in parliamentary, judicial, security, public service, economy, and media sectors. The entrepreneur in Matsoso is evident through his founding and directorship of Fincor, a venture encompassing Fincor Development Consultants, Iceberg Premium Health Water, Century
Events, Catering, and Decor. This diversified portfolio reflects Matsoso’s interest in entrepreneurship, where he not only engages in advisory services but also ventures into the retail sector with Iceberg Bottled Premium Health Water.


Matsoso’s professional journey is marked by a commitment to creating positive change at both national and international levels. As a researcher, youth policy analyst, and certified youth development practitioner, he brings a wealth of experience to his leadership role at the Campaign
for Social Justice. Beyond organizational responsibilities, Matsoso actively engages with the United Nations, contributing to international initiatives such as the Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM) program hosted by UNDP. His leadership in coplanning and coordinating the Sebabatso Prime Minister’s Youth Empowerment Initiative showcases his hands-on approach to transformative projects in youth development. Matsoso’s commitment to youth empowerment extends to his roles as Country Coordinator for the International Youth Alliance for Family Planning. His collaboration with Restless Development USA as a youth panelist, assessing Family Planning 2020 activities and meaningful youth engagement in Anglophone African countries, further underscores his dedication to youthfocused initiatives.
